My name is also on his check due to I'm who filed and he is a minor. I do not work due to all his therapies and other dr appt. Is his Ssi safe? Or should I be worried

It should be safe, but you should try and work out a settlement with them, with them hopefully forgiving part of the debt and you starting to make payments to them

I can't work I had to quit college and work just to make sure he is able to make his appts. Could I go under uncollectible status.

and another thing, the check came from them knowing I owe, wouldn't they have just kept it. It scares me because he needs this and I don't want my past problems to interfere with his help

Uncollectible status is probable for now, but, eventually, you will have to pay it.

His SSI is HIS money (even though you manage it), so the IRS cannot touch it.

I don't have a problem paying it once I get the money. But I haven't worked in over a year because of my sons condition. I was on a 75.00 payment plan but it got to where I couldn't afford it because my son wast on state assistance them. But now he is and I've been out of a job since all of this.

Your best bet is to call the IRS and explain your situatin. They will then likely put it in uncollectable status and check in with you periodically to see if your job status has changed.
