    Green card probation period
    Green Card probation period.
I would like to know if after getting a green card through marriage (after being married for over 3 years), if there is any period that one MUST live in the US to keep the green card. In other words; can one get a green card and move abroad, coming every 6 months to the US? Is there a probation period before one is allowed to move abroad?

    Thank you!

You can move anywhere you want... they will just cancel your green card.

No longer can you get a green card and go live someplace else returning when its convenient to you.

Stay out for six months now and you give it up to someone who really wants to live here...

Thank you smoothie. I kind had an idea aboutvthat but just wanted confirmation. I do not want to live anywhere else, I own 3 homes in America and have been out of the country just waiting on my GC to go back home.
I don't need to give ip up to someone else but thank you for your suggestion.

Yes lot of people in the past got green cards... then went and lived in other country... obviously since there are quotas for how many people are allowed here... that resulted in people that wanted to be here not getting their chance.

It was a fairly recent change... though I can't tell you exactly when it took effect without doing some digging around..
