    Canada mortgage lien
I am selling my property in Montreal, Quebec and was informed by the buyer's notary that there was a lien from a previous interested buyer that was not removed last year. Who's responsibility is it to remove it, mine or the ex interested buyer ?

    Thank you,
    Mara

It's the responsibility of the seller to convey clear title. So it would be your responsibility to get the lien removed.

What was the reason for the lien? Is there any pending litigation? Who cancelled the sale and why?
