Water softener
Salt blocks are not typically used for water softeners. There are some kinetico models that are designed for salt block usage. Salt blocks generally do not dissolve enough brine in the time frame it tanks between regeneration cycles for most softeners to regenerate properly causing hard water issues. The best types of salt to use are Dura Cube, Hardi Cube or Solar salt. Pellet type salts have a strong tendency to mush and pack in the bottom of salt tanks and are notorious for causing salt bridging. Either of these problems will cause potential service issues with any softener. It is best to keep your salt tank at least 1/2 full of salt to assure the proper brining during regeneration.
For a salt distributor go to cargill.com and look under the water softener heading to find your local distributor.
