Im building a shed 14'x8' how do I determine the height of the ridge board if Im building a 4/12 roof pitch?
Divide the width of the shed (in feet) by 2, multiply by 4. That will be the height (in inches) of the top of the ridge board. Subtract the width of the ridge board and that will be the length of the stud supporting the ridge board.
Harold nailed it unless you are running the ridge the short way. Then you would change the 4 to a 7.

You lost me Chuck. The rise is still 4", no matter which dimension is the width.
