    Statins and hair growth
After taking simvastatin 20mg for 5 months I noticed my hair growth stopped I am not losing any its sort of in a dormant stage. I used to get my haircut every 3 weeks but I haven't needed a haircut going on 2 months. I am also taking effient and ramipril but I don't think they are part of the hair problem. The doc said stop the statin as I really don't need it and see if the hair growth returns. Anybody with similar experience or advise... thanks

I take the same medication, and have been for about 15 yrs. I am 70 yrs old, begin getting slightly bald on top, in back of my head, at 35 yrs old! I haven't notice any abnormal changes in hair, or lack of it, since I started on it. Happy New Year.

As a side-note, this web page lists Side Effects.
    Zocor (simvastatin)
Hair Loss is listed under Rare Side Effects.
There are many articles about hair loss and this medication using Google or another search engine. I do wish you the best. Your doctor doesn't know for sure either, sounds like; so, it would be a good idea to try not using it for awhile.
