I am renovating the interior of my garage and I would like to put in place a 100a box. I am to be wiring from the existing 200a box which is located 40'+ from this garage. The 200a box is in a single unit with the meter. I would like to know if I should run it underground (if so, what wire type, conduit) or if I could run it above ground inside conduit using 100a SEU along the higher side of the wall of the house. I will try to explain as best as can be.

You can use 1-1/4" PVC Schedule 40 with 3- #2 XHHW Aluminum and 1-# 6 XHHW for the underground feeder. Or use #2 Aluminum 4 wire SER cable inside. Be sure to use antioxidant compound on any aluminum connection.

If you want to run on the outside of the house, use the same PVC and wire I already mentioned. SER cable is very difficult to pull through conduit.
