Installed new pop up drain but it is leaking
I just replaced the lavatory faucet and installed Krause PU-10 pop up drain. The drain is leaking where the concave rubber washer fits at the bottom of the sink. I have tried putting on silicone but that did not help either. I am afraid of over tightening the nuts. Please help.

Tighten it up as much as possible by hand don't be afraif if it breaks it was too weak to do the job so then you would have to replace it anyway. Don't be afraid just do it slowly.. . Good luck

When the drain runs. Just checked with the tub full and there was no leak.

Thanks. Did you clean off the drain before you installed the pop-up? Did you install the gasket with the flat side down? Did you tighten down hard? When you tightened the gasket did it spread out? Back to you. Tom

It is a new drain so it is clean. The gasket flat side is down with concave side up. I even put some silicone in the concave side. I have tightened it well but not to a point where it won't turn anymore. Not sure if further tightening is possible without damage and if it would flatten the gasket any more.

Here are the specs of the drain I have installed. It is PU-10.

    Thanks

I would just slowly but gently tighten it up. . That should be enough o stop the leak. Give it a solid complete turn and then see if it leaks keep doing that until you have it as tight as it will go.

Hi Khan! You said, "The gasket flat side is down with concave side up"...

Look at the diagram you posted again... shows the flat side on top and the concave side of the washer facing down... ;)

Reverse this washer and try again... should resolve the issue!

Good catch Mark... I did not catch that at all... I assumed he followed the directions exactly... the devil is in the details...

Thanks, but if Khan doesn't return soon we'll probably never know how the issue was resolved! UGH! Have a good day!
