Hello, I installed a model RTH221B1021 digital backlit thermostat but my heat won't come on. I followed wire instructions, I did not land the common (blue wire) . I landed green on G, yellow on Y, white on w, red on r and kept the jumper in place between r & rc. When I switch to heat, the stat clicks and shows heat on, but the furnace will not come on. Any idea as to what may be the problem?

Lack of a common is not an issue unless you were trying to do wi fi stat. Did you chcek to see what the wire colors were connected to on the old stat? Your colors all seem normal but was freen wire on green screw and so on? Check the panel on the furnace, it has the same color labeled screws, to they match with the wire color. Y is for AC so I assume you have AC, right? Does it work? Can you get your blower to work when setting the stat from AUTO to ON?

Hello Ballengerb, in reality I did not install the stat, my wife's brother did about a year ago. We are in AZ so heat is not an issue most winters, but got a little cold so figured Id run for a bit then found it didn't work. I checked the furnace in the attic and all wires do land according to color and yes the yellow does go to the a/c. Never had an issue with the a/c in the summer. When calling for heat, the blower does not come on no matter if fan is in auto or on position. Im wondering if the 5 amp fuse on the board is blown?

[so since the install you have never called for heat. Could be a poor untested install but more likely an issue with the furnace. Is it gas fired, heat pump or what

LOL, yup never called for heat till now. It is a gas furnace, the brand is Goodman

Most furnaces have a pep hole or small window to you can see inside the panel and read blinking lights. Look closely to see if you have a peep and tell us if there are blinks, and if so what are they. IE my firnace may send me 3 fast red blinks followed by 3 slow blinks when all is well.

ballengerb1, sorry was doing the Christmas thing lastnight with the family and got home late. I have the furnace working now. It was the 5amp fuse on the board that was blown. I changed the fuse, set the program and away she went. Thanks for your assistance in this matter, it is appreciated. Have a wonderful holiday season

Glad you got it going, but curious, was that a three amp fuse or a five? Normally they are a three amp.
