I am having trouble with my ethernet not getting connected to the internet, the wireless works fine, I thought I need a new IP address for the lan line, am I right, or can I just renew the IP address, if so how?

Is your wireless connection's IP settings set to automatic or manual? If automatic then change your LAN's IP to automatic as well. If manual, copy the settings from wireless to LAN, only change the IP address's last group. Ex. 192.168.0.20 and 192.168.0.21
Test another computer with that network cable to make sure the cable is fine.
Also try another LAN port on your router.
If another computer works fine with the LAN cable then try resetting your TCP/IP settings.
Open command prompt. As Administrator if you are running Win Vista and above.
Then type the following 2 commands:
Netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Netsh winsock reset
Hope this helps...
Thanks,it has been resolved, by me reseting the modem (dumb me) I am notthat computer savvy, thanks for your helpful try.
