    Tried jumper wire between r and w , furnace did not start.
    I am assuming that means that wiring and stat are OK. What is the next logical step.

    Where did you install the jumper?

    My wires from the stat are spliced to a wired plug attached to furnace. I put a wire between the red and white wire where splice is. Nothing happened. Just flipped breaker again to get going for now.
