How can I get rid of a virus in my household?
I have taken my children to the doctor because they were vomiting and having diarrhea. The doctor diagnosed it as a virus and told me to give them probiotics and to keep then on the B.R.A.T. diet. I have done so. It is now three weeks later and all of my children, myself and my toddler are all still sick. What do I do?

Its been a week and 2 days since we visited the doctor and he said there isn't anything they can do for a virus. That we have to wait it out. I was curious if anyone had any ideas in the house of what I should do. I have been using lysol and bleach when I can get out of bed. And following doctors orders. I am most likely going to take them to the ER and see what they say there cause I don't think I can get a same day appointment.

You said 3 weeks. That's a huge difference from 1 week and 2 days.
The advice given to me when I had a virus that had food running right through me in both directions was to NOT EAT for 3 days. Nothing but clear liquids, which is a very limited diet. Mostly watered down apple juice or beef broth. The idea (according to the doctor I saw) was that the virus will die in 3 days if it has nothing in your gut to feed on. It worked for me.

PS: lysol and bleach are for bacteria. Viruses spread by hand to mouth and nose ingesting, inhaling, or touching.

But just in case of other contagions, soak all your cutting boards in soap and bleach, and throw out or bleach all sponges.

I think you all need to go back to the doctor because if you're all throwing up and having diarrhea for this length of time, you all risk dehydration and might need fluids administered by IV. If it's deemed appropriate, that can really help with the weakness you are experiencing. At least call the doctor and give a status update on each family member. Dehydration can be dangerous, especiallly for small children.
