My dog has been treated for pollen allergies. We are at the end of Dec. and she should be better after a solid freeze which we have had already but she continues to have the problem. Our Vet empties her anal glands every 6 weeks so what do you think is the problem?

She could have an infection in her anal glands.

I'm not sure where you are, but winter really hasn't been full blown and things could still be bothering her.

Do a process of elimination. Get her anal glands expressed and see if they are infected or if the problem goes away due to them being expressed. If that doesn't stop her itches, than try an antihistamine. See if that helps.

If this is a dog that gets clipped and groomed, check for razor burn or any redness. Part the hair and really look. Try applying a cortizone cream to her area and see if that helps.
