Dr. Bill question on ETG passing
Dr. Bill please help ease my mind.I was the designated driver Saturday night and after getting home about 2am I decided to catch up with my friends who were drinking so I drank Sunday up until 2pm about 4 shots of tequila and vodka about 2 shots and a few beers. My job sprung a random test on me Thursday at 7pm so from my count it was 101 hours from last drink . Am really nervous because I don't consume as much water as I should so am worried about it still being in my system. Am a 35 year old female about 135lbs and a smoker. Do you think I will pass? I get results back tomorrow and need to be prepared.

We have an RN on site, but she may be busy at work right now (delivers babies during the night shift). Please be patient.

    Grneyez77,

Given the amount of alcohol that you consumed and the time after your BAC should have returned to 0, you should have no EtG remaining from this exposure when you tested.

It is always a good idea to make certain that you are well hydrated prior to testing so that you minimize the chance of any incidental exposure to alcohol (through various products) triggering a positive test. Additionally, you should void 1 to 1 ½ hours prior to testing so that when you test you provide the newest urine that you have.

Does your employer do EtG testing or test for ETOH? If they are doing EtG testing, they must not allow any alcohol consumption--even when you aren't working! If they are testing you for ETOH, this will clear much faster.

Sorry... ETOH = ethanol. Either way, you should be in the clear.
