    Carrier heat pump troubleshooting
Our outside compressor is flipping the breaker off every time it tries to come on. What is causing this> and how can I fix it? Thanks

Sounds like you have a direct short. It could be the wiring outside at the disconnect or the unit but
More than likely you have a compressor that is defective.
. You need special tools and training to change the compressor and a EPA license to work with refrigerant. Your best bet is to call for service and see what they find.

I would do a quick check of the wiring from the relay on. If you don't see any obvious bare wires or something, call a service man. I agree it is most likely the compressor, beyond DIY.

Could be as simple as a bad capacitor to the bad news of a failed compressor.
