    hot wire bill
Round electrical ceiling light boxes are they screwed in
Carpender put three ceiling light outlets in and a switch. Wanted to put a switch in and found out that the three outlets on top are all hot even through the switch outlet wires aren't connected. I assume he wired the lead light outlet and piggie tailled one wrong. Problem is I can only assume that the light closes to the switch is the first power source. He also used round outlight boxes in the celing with not visible screws holding them in. Can you pry them out to see the wiring>

The "Carpenter" did that? I assume you are telling us that this does not work the way you want it to?
Did you pay for this work? If so, why aren't you asking the carpenter to correct his work?

Agree with hfc. However, he probably used snap in old work boxes. Look for 2 screws in the box base. Unscrew them and you should get enough space to compress the sides and drop the box. Without knowing how he wired it hard for us to diagnose but sounds like a switch loop is involved .

Carpenter? New ceiling fixtures, new wiring, new switch? Impression I get is you had renovation work done. If new work (nail up) boxes were used you can't remove them with out damage, nor should it be necessary to figure out the wiring.

Re-describe your problem, putting it in context of the work done and describe the wiring in each ceiling fixture and at the switch.
