I am 16 and this guy is 19, he asked me out but I am not so sure if it is legal. I really love him and he loves me. What do I do?

How do you know you love each other if he has just asked you out?
What is the age of consent in your state and what is your parents view on your dating and adult?

We've been talking for a couple months now, and he is so sweet

He can be sweet but how do you know you love each other after talking for two months? What do your parents think about your dating an adult, and do you know what the age of consent is in your State?

First, there are no laws governing dating. It would not be illegal for you to date him as long as your parents approve.

But what concerns me here is your thinking that you are in love after talking for a few months. That speaks to an immaturity if you believe that.

So the bottom line here is talk to your parents, have him come meet them and if they agree then date him. Give yourself time to really get to know each other.

That's fine. If mom approves then go for it.

But I wouldn't be professing love for this guy at this point.

Saying you're in love is a very strong statement to make, especially when you've only been talking to this guy for 2 months, and you're not even dating yet.

I feel that teens throw the word love around too quickly, without really knowing what being in love means. How can you be in love with someone you barely know?

Yes, ask your mom, have her meet this guy, and if she agrees, you can date. But with regards to love, it's more than just liking someone a lot. Don't throw the L word around until you really know what it means, and what it entails.
