What type of shower pan can I use outdoors to catch shower water that then is drained to a dry well. I would like to cover the pan with some type of wood or fake wood for aesthetics. Is there a how to for installing a outdoor shower. I have a septic system in place. The shower will be next to the house. I would like the water to be drained away from the house so there is less risk for water seapage into the basement.

Is this going to be completely enclosed (weathered in) -- Or is this something that will allow rainwater to fill your septic tank and wash out your drainage field?

It depends on the budget and what you want for a finished product. A wood floor on the plastic pan will cut the pan.

It will only be used for the summer time. It will not be closed in completely except for privacy. I am not sure if I can tap into the main iron pipe going to the septic or to create a drywell.:confused:

I am not concerned about budget. I am more concerned about longevity and the least amount of maintenance. There are some drain pans made by American standard or kohler or some other companies. I could incorporate these items into the outdoor shower. I am not sure if this composite material will hold up in the einter time. The shower will only be used in the summer.

This really sounds like a project best left to the engineers.

I've seen a number of 'Finnish Sauna/Showers' that completely overwhelmed an existing septic system and drainage field.

If you decide to go forward with this, make sure you make provisions for capping off the drain during the rainy seasons.
