How long does landlord have to replumb the house
I live in California and I'm wondering how long does my landlord have to replumb the house.I say replumb because the plumbing underneath the house was never redone when we moved in,only the outer pipes. The bath tub gets clogged now and there is a slow leak outside as well as the plumbing for the washer is starting to leak. Now,I've been told that in some cases that it can take a day or two to replumb the house. So,if it would take a couple days to fix,is the landlord held reliable should we have to stay at a motel. The landlord is and has been aware of the faulty plumbing from the start and had a worker come out to look at the problem. That was months ago,now I just can't continue to buy drano thinking this will remedy the situation.Basically my ? Is how many days is it legal for me to wait for this to be fixed before I get my own professional plumber and deduct it from the rent.

To plumb a house means to make sure the walls and studs are level. You want to know about repairing the plumbing.

If you pay for water or the leaks are damaging the building, then give the landlord 10 days to fix the problem. Inform him, in writing that he has 10 days and if it isn't repaired then you will hire your own plumber and deduct the costs from the rental.

    Actually, OP was correct.

    "Verb

replumb (third-person singular simple present replumbs, present participle replumbing, simple past and past participle replumbed)
1.(transitive) To fit with new plumbing. We've just spent a week replumbing the bathroom." replumb - Wiktionary

That must be arcane. I wonder whether our plumbing experts ever used that word.

It's not arcane. My husband is a builder and he uses it all the time.
