I am wanting to hook up an electric furnace in my house and need to know if it will support a 24 kw furnace,my house has 200 amp service and there is 20 single pole breakers @ 15 amps, 3 double pole breakers @ 15 amps, 2 double pole breakers @ 20 amps and 3 double pole breakers @30 amps... there are 4 spare spaces still available in my panel and I need to know as soon as possible as I need to get this furnace in asap Thanks!

Need to know the square footage of livable space in the home, and a list of all major electric appliances, to include the wattage or amp rating of these appliances, so that a service rating calculation can be performed.

No one can tell exactly just by a list of existing circuit breakers.

tkrussell, Thanks for the quick response,I have a hot water heater that is 3000 watts,a stand up oven that is 40 amps,venmar air unit that is 1.2 amps, submersibal pump that is 3.5 amps,and an electric dryer that is 30 amps the total square footage of the house is 3200, hope this helps,if you need more info let me know! You are taking over 50% of the service's capacity just for the furnace in a 3200 sq/ft house. That is a big house. IMO you are cutting it close.

I would not do anything until you have an electrician come over and do a real accurate demand load calculation.

Stan is correct, it is close, my calculation shows the service would have 175.16 amps.

The 200 Amp service is just barely adequate.

If you add this 24 KW of load, the service will be maxed out, and no additioanl load can be added without increasing the size of the service.

But, I cannot tell you the furnace will not fit, it will.

I suggest, if you add this furnace, that all of the wire connections in the panel, meter, and/or disconnect be checked for tightness, to insure there will be no connection problems from such a high load.
