    Trying to adopt
I am $14000 in arrears of child support, I am in the middle of an adoption process to adopt 2 children (fiances neices). Also I was taken off work early in the year and am awaiting a decision from disability to see if I am approved. The children are staying with us full time currently through a kinship program. We are receiving a per diem which will end when the adoption is finalized. The 14000 in arrears is knowledge that I just recently acquired I thought it had been paid.

We are hoping to be married by Jan 2013, will my fiancé be penalized in any way as my spouse?

She shouldn't. The marriage and adoption should have little if any affect on your support obligation.

Both the OP and the fiancée are going to adopt these nieces? Obviously when the adoption occurs, he/she will have a legal duty to support them as though they were his/her natural children. But to answer the question, this duty won't be a penalty "as [OP's] spouse".
