You mean both drains? Do they drain into the same drain line. Most washing machines drain into an indirect connection which is not water tight so a backup would be all over the floor, is that what happened?

Since kitchens and laundry rooms are right next to each other and especially if a septic tank's installed, we run the two drains in one line, Because of garbage disposals and lint and fiber from the washer this line tends to clog more then the others. Our local code now mandates a three inch drain line fro these two fixtures. You can address this clog from either the kitchen or the washer roof vent or from a cleanout bin the basement. Good luck, Tom
