What happens when You turn the screws and it won't pump more than forty pounds
Dad, you are posting on an old thread.
Hi Dad and welcome to The Plumbing Page at AskMeHelpDesk.com You are responding to a 8 year old dead thread so I gave you one of your own. Please check the date before you post. Thanks,
Replace the control box.and see if that doesn't solve your problem. Good luck, TomQuote:

My apologies, Dad. I thought you were commenting on the previous discussion. After reading your post a second time, I see you were asking a question. Glad Speedball saw that.
If you turn up the main center nut and the pump just keeps on pumping but won't get past forty pounds, then there is a problem outside the box (possibly the pump). If the pump gets up to 40 and then cuts off, and you can't get the control box adjusted any higher, then you need, as SB said, to replace it.
The contacts never open up and the pump keeps on running? Or do the contacts open up at 40 PSI? At first I thought it might be a bad control box but I'm leaning more to a damaged impeller or perhaps a leaky check valve. Can you give nus more details? Back to you, Tom
