Can someone give me some tips on finding a job quickly this holiday seaon?
I was seriously depressed in high school and all sorts of problems with self esteem, shyness, confidence, social anxiety and everything so I never thought I was worthy enough to have a job but I'm slowly getting better. Now I'm 20 and have NO job no experience at all. I mean there was this one week of working as a sales clerk at my cousins' candy shop but I don't count that. I just started applying to job in September and got a 4 phone interviews and 1 face-face but I fked them all because I was a nervous wreck and wasn't prepared. And I have a problem with calling to check up on it's status... what do I say? How can I stop being scared to talk? Is it to late to apply to jobs since almost all major companies already got their people for the holiday season? And what do I put on a resume/ job application when I have no experience? The only reason I got those interviews was because I lied. Also what jobs should I be applying to? I applied to and got interview to Home Depo, Target, PNC Bank, George Webb Restaurant, and Dollar General but I got denied by all. How do I know if a place is hiring or not? And most of all how do I get experience every place is asking for exp.. even entry level! I would like to get over my social anxiety by getting a customer service job but they all want non-ugly, skinny, young, outgoing people which I am not.:<

Side note: Should I continue trying to self teach stuff like programming languages and mathematics even though I'm not good at them?

Sorry for all the questions! And those I bold is what I need help with most and my social anxiety of course. It seems so hard and I'm willing to do any job no matter it is, but my fears and insecurity is keeping me down.

You are sold on a silly untrue idea, I am fat and old and was one of the best clerks at many stores. I worked many part time jobs, esp around christmas time.

The issue is, how many places have you went in, in person, you apply for home depo, on skills you list knowledge of lumber or nails or windows, anything you know about.

How about working non paid at some places like dog pound, a homeless shelter for a few months for experiece and reference.

But the store normally ( esp places like you named) don't care what you look like. Some high dollar clothing or make up stores want looks, others care less.

What do you say? You say as brightly and cheerfully and eagerly as you can that you want to work there more than anywhere else (even if it's a lie, and no matter how many places you apply to). You say you understand the importance of showing up each day on time. You say you don't bring a cell phone to work (or if you need to, that it's turned off). You say you are eager to LEARN the job. You have answers ready if you are asked what you like to do in your spare time. You make up something for the years since high school you didn't work - like you were taking online courses while caring for a relative who was sick or dying. Yes, it's a lie. But they don't need to know that you were suffering from low self esteem or you will never get a job, and it's not like you were in prison.
