    Stop adoption process
I am the mother of a 27year old son who has a baby on the way. The mother is giving the baby up for adoption. My son is devastated over this. He would be a great father. We live in Dallas, Texas. Can she do that? He wants to with my help raise this child (a boy) She won't tell him anything about the plans for the adoption but has admitted he is the father which I want a paternity test at birth. Where does he start?

    He starts here:

    Texas Paternity Registry
    Dept. Of State Health Services
    P.O. Box 12040
    Austin, TX 78711-2040
    (888) 963-7111 ext. 7782
Can we help you find something?
    (VS134 form - $10 or $18 fee)

The link doesn't work, so try calling. A putative Father's Registry allows your son to register as the possible father. The courts will require that he approve any adoption. The next step is get an attorney. The attorney may be able to file an injunction preventing an adoption from taking place without his participation. Once the child is born he can petition the court for custody.
