16 year old girl dating 14 year old boy-is it illegal ?

In this case, I am the 16 year old( I'm female), and my boyfriend is 14. My family approve of it, we just haven't mentioned anything to his family yet.

When do you plan to?

His parents need to be OK with this. I hope he plans on asking his parents.

There are no laws governing dating, but if his parents don't approve then you can get in legal trouble.

I would not allow my 14 year old son to date a 16 year old girl.

No it is not illegal. I am 25 and my husband is 28

You are both adults. That makes a huge difference.
When you are dealing with minors under the age of 16, parental consent is important. In the case of a 14 year old the parent can say this girl is interfering with parental, control.

How does your being 25 and 28 apply? As noted, the question comes from minors. Minors need parental consent to date.

3 years age difference when you're a legal adult is way different than a 2 year age difference when you're a minor. Your "advice" doesn't even begin to fit in this situation.

No, a 16 year old dating a 14 year old is not illegal. I'm 14 and have dated a 15,16,and 17 year old guy. My parents did know but just always watched out for me. As long as there's not sexual content involved, you should be great =) have fun!<3

Bottom line, this 14 year old boy must have parental consent.
As a parent I would not consent to my 14 year old son dating a 16 year old girl. What do you want with a kid that age anyway?

I just wanted to point out, from my point of view as a former 14 year old boy, that he is hoping for some sort of sexual relationship. Sorry, but it's most likely the truth... unless he is secretly gay.
