I want dimmable recessed lighting where the ceiling is insulated, old construction. I want to be able to replace the standard base light bulbs by replacing the light bulb with the outlet that screws in then plug in strings of Christmas lights. Is there any problems with having Christmas lights on a dimmer?

No problem but if they are LED they must be a dimmable type.
