Minpin has a red circular mark below his penis?
Hi, my mini doberman has a circular red mark at the base of his penis. I thought it was a berry stain so I tried rubbing it off, but it hasn't lightened in color at all. It doesn't appear to be itching. What could this be? Here is a picture: http://i46.tinypic.com/25h0iuc.jpg

Tried rubbing if off? God give me a break. Why would you try 'rubbing if off', which probably irritated it more then anything. Why do you think you can treat this baby the way you want to see it?

We can't tell you what it is, we don't diagnose here for dogs, cats or humans, so take your furrbaby into a vet and find out what it is.

If you don't have money to spend on an animal who needs your care and attention, then you don't deserve to have a pet.

Thanks for the image of your poor pups rear end, but it doesn't mean anything.

    How crass of you

There are so many possibilities. It could be a birth mark (although they're not normally red), it could be a bite, it could be an infection, it could be cancer, it could be many many things.

Only a vet can tell you what's going on, so make an appointment today.

    Good luck.

tickle- If you aren't an expert in this field, don't respond. You are better suited for discussions on small rodents.. perhaps not even that.

Is the red mark his skin? Or is it on the hair? Is it actual red? Or like a rusty color?

Never mind, looked at the picture. My guess is ring worm. You can apply vagisil to it twice a day to see if it goes away. If not, you should take the dog into the vet

Damn! I was thinking ring worm, but didn't mention it. Either way, I wouldn't have known about vagisil.

Have to spread the rep again, but great post. :)

I do happen to be an expert in this field. Classed as just 'expert ' means in many fields. I do apologize though and hope your minpin is okay, thanks to lucky and Alty.

Where do you live? It looks like a bug bite (among other things... ) but it's not really the season... unless you live in an area where they are still out,
