I open the garage door with the wall button, but it will not close with the remote until the light goes out. The remote works fine when I get home because the light is out. Any ideas? Thank you.

It is about 14 years old. It is a Craftsman and the model is 139.536SRT3. The problem just started about 3 weeks ago. I tried to shorten the time that the light stays on so I could just wait to to close the door, but the time is not adjustable. Strange isn't it? Thanks for your response.
