My 70 year old Mother in Law went onto the hospital for a broken hip! She was operated on but is going down hill! She was diagnosed today with Acute Liver & Kidney Failure and listed as critical! She has diabeties, high blood pressure & heart problem! Wanted to know timeline for possible death ( worst case) or recovery (best case)? Any ideas? Want to be prepared for both!

Surely doctors have discussed this with you. There is only one prognosis for acute liver and kidney failure and that is death at an unspecified time. You will only have to be prepared for one outcome. No one can determine how long this will take.

This is really quite unfortunate, 70 years old is too young to have this diagnosis.

Edit: sepsis would be the main concern here from which there is no reversal.

It sounds like she has multiple very serious problems, and you may not have her very long but nobody can tell you how long. I agree that you should speak to the doctor about her prognosis in detail. It's really hard to guess how long a person will live or what they will or will not be able to do as everyone is unique, and she has such a complex mix of medical concerns. For example, kidney failure is life-threatening but people can live for years on dialysis if their bodies tolerate it. I don't know if anything can be done for liver failure and would not think a person would live with that condition very long. Diabetes can complicate all of it, and heart disease could be aggravated by the other stresses on her body. Even her doctor may not be able to give you a sense of the time you have or what that time is going to be like for her. This might be one of those really tough situations in life where you want to know, what to take control so you can prepare and protect her as best you can, but where that control is not in your hands. This might be one of those "take it as it comes" experiences when you just have to take a breath and walk through it little by little.
