I have an 11 year old Yorkie and I have noticed her stumbling and having trouble getting her feet under her in time to move like she wants to. Recently I had her at the vet to inquire about her having difficulty jumping on the couch. She was diagnosed as having back pain and I was given a medication to give her as needed. It is a pain pill but I can't recall the name. I don't give her the does daily but skip one or two days (usually). Could it be the medicine? Could the dose be too high? Do you think it is something else?

I think it is her age. My Jack Russell is 11 and I have to put a box next to my bed as a step, help her hind legs sometimes, keep her warmer than in the past, and let her out to pee more often. You could get some glucosomine/chondroitin. It does help many dogs, and people too.

If she is stumbling as in off balance, it could be an ear infection, or old age calcifying her ear moving parts, much as happens in us.

I am sorry to sa this but your dog might be arthuritic wich is a very common case in old dogs I have seen a lot with it all it is is a normal case of arthuritus he will be fine

I meant arthritis, sorry, and just assumed everyone knew. Old age = arthritis.
