    Jackhammer pipes
    Hi,
I recently changed the bathtub faucet and in doing so had to change the pipe that connected the piping in the wall. When I tried removing the old faucet it was so corroded the old pipe came with. The old pipe was a copper and had been soldered together. Since I'm inexperienced when it comes to soldering, I had to replace the piping with a galvanized pipe. For some reason the old pipe was an odd length, so I had to use a nipple and bushing with the new one. Shortly after replacing the pipe, when I turn the handle on between cold and hot I get a jack hammering noise, behind the wall in the bathroom. The sound stops when I turn the handle all the way hot, all the way cold, or turn on the shower. I have tried reducing the flow of water with the hot and cold knobs under the bathroom sink and still continue to get the jack hammering.

What's the brand name of your faucet? One handle or two knobs? You have a new faucet installed now correct? Back to you, Tom

Hi Tom, yes it it's a newly installed faucet. As fas as the brand I'm not quite sure, I can't recall. It's cheap and has a "SR" or "SA" stamped on the underside of it. Thanks Tom

Shut the water off to the valve and remove the cartridge. Now place a pan over the open valve and turn on the hot and cold water to flush out the supplies, Check the inlet pots on the cartridge and reassemble, Better now? Let me know, Tom
