Installing Hardie backerboard for a tile job. I put in thinset first and allowed it to set up before trying to screw the board in. I cannot get any screws in. Will this damage the thinset if I can even find a way to get the screws in now?

Drill a pilot hole with a carbide bit and then run the screws down.
