Purchased mobile home, found out seller owed over $5000. In back taxes!
Purchased mobile home. Later found out seller owed over $5000. On back taxes! When I went in and paid current year to date taxes... Then found out the seller is a sister to mobile home owner. Once I found out taxes were over due over six years, I contacted the seller who stated her sister the real owner had a bankruptcy and no money is due; however, I gave this info to the tax collector who informed me they had no record of such and had the info I provided been true that once the owner moved from mobile home that the owner would owe all previous yrs taxes. Only while owner lived in mobile home they would not collect... Long story short I didn't know what steps to take next.. I have the sign deed on mobile home from the real owner, but never transferred it to my name because I was told by tax collector that once I tried to do so it wouldn't be cleared to transfer with the outstanding bill. I came home to find a letter of pre intercept and enforcement notice. Does this mean there is a lien on it now? Should I try and transfere it now? Or can I? I'm living in it now. I've put thousands into upgrades. Can they seize it because it's not on my name and legally belongs to previous owner? Please help me. I'm lost without direction.

    AK lawyer
    It appears that either
    1. the man who sold it to you didn't own it (in which case you own nothing), or
    2. he owned it and is now lying to you.
    .

You really need to have an attorney look at this situation.
