    Gas furnace ignitor
My Carrier furnace model 58pav will not ignite. When I set it to heat and turn up the temp. the blower only comes on and runs continuously until I turn switch to off. The hot surface igniter does not come on and no gas is emitted. I bhave not removed the igniter but it does not look broken. How would I proceed to check system?

Look at the testing procedures for gas dryers. They are almost alike in how you test them. The thing about the furnace is that it can have control voltage of 24-28 volts AC. You should make sure the flame rod is cleaned with super fine sandpaper. That is the number one problem when it gets dirty.
