Water heater almost started a fire
I have a question regarding my electric hot water heater. While I judst so happened to be in my garage talking on the phone, I saw smoke coming out from the upper thermostat and a sizzling noise. I immediately shut the power off at the breaker and then removed the panel (upper) to investigate. I noticed water had filled up to the electrical terminals thereby causing this potential fire. Thank god I was home and noticed it before that happened.
The heater is only about five years old.
Any input would be much appreciated
    Chris

Chris I believe your water heater is toast. Time to go shopping for a new one!
