    L1 Visa Dual Status
I arrived in the US on L1 visa on April 1 2006. Prior to that I resided and worked in Norway.

I had no US income prior to my arrival in the US. Similarly, I had no income in Norway after I arrived in US.

I believe I am a dual status alien.

    1. Do I need to file my foreign earnings from Norway that I got before my arrival in US on the 1040NR?

    2. Do I need to fill out the 1040NR form even if I had no earnings in Norway during my time in the US?

    3. If I had no foreign income during my time in the US do I still need to complete out the 1040NR.

    Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the reply but I am not quite sure if it answers my question. I guess what I am trying to find out it if I need to report my non US related income for the first three months of the year, before I moved to the US?

    Yes, you ARE dual-status.

    1) No, you do NOT report your Norway-based income; just report U.S.-based income.

2 & 3) Yes, you need to attach the Form 1040NR to provide the information on Page 5 of the Form 1040NR.
