    Rug care
Which type of rug shampoo machine is the best - steam or chemical?
Any suggestions of which to purchase?
    I live in Eastern Iowa.
    Thank you

Hoover makes a good model for homeowners. I think it is called the Steam Pro with two rows of brushes. Don't let the name Steam fool you, they all use a chemical shampoo, this one has a great extractor. It also heats the water solution to a temp higher than your tap. Extraction is probably the most important part of good cleaning, otherwise you are just pushing the dirt deeper into the fibers. Try Home Depot, about $199 on sale.
