I am trying to recall the name of a monster movie from the late 80's early 90's. The movie had an early teen as the main character (he may have been in a wheel chair or another person was). He was always spying on his neighbors with a telescope. People in his town turned out to be monsters, and he used comic books to learn how to destroy them. I believe towards the end of the movie he had to rescue his mom from a cave with a giant spider (or something like that). I used to watch it a lot as a kid, and would love to find it again!!
