I am trying to create a form normal excel sheet and want to provide a guide to the participant on what information to put in the cells. I want t a faint text in the cells as an instruction which will disappear as someone starts typing in that cell. Can anyone help with a method that would work within Excel versions 2003-2007/ 2010?

You can enter the text in the cell, for example "Enter Address".

Then use conditional formatting to test the value of that cell. If the cell = "Enter Address" then format the font as grey.
