How to replace old toilet too close to wall
Hello replacing an old toilet with new standard on but the rough opening on old toilet is too close to wall for newer toilet. I thought there was a way of fitting it in by placing a toilet bowel of one size with a tank of another. Sorry not a plumber but heard this trick but can't remember. Any help greatly appreciated

    Hi Cindy

What does the rough measure out at? Here, measure from the finished wall (NOT the baseboard) behind the toilet to the center of the drain pipe... what is that measurement? Tell us that and we can present a proper solution, OK?

Forget swapping tanks/bowls... won't work in 99% of cases.

I can only guess but it sounds like you have a 10" rough in toilet and tried to replace with a 12". Follow Mark's advise and get us the dimensions.
