Hi I had a new Shower bulit in the basement bathroom I now have very low pressuer in the showers both up and down it starts lower then normal and then decreases I checked the pressure gauge looks like it is at 30 to start and cuts about 50 psi I see a valve the man (disguised as a carpenter/plumber) put in and there is app 8 " section of smaller pipe coming off the valve. then goes back up to the size of all the pipes would that reduction is pipe size make it act like this? or is it my Bladder tank? my well is only 5 yrs old 5.5" with a sumersible pump. Thank you Sam

Sure would help if I knew the pipe size before the valve and the pipe size it was choked down to. You say this line feeds both showers? What's going on in the rest of the house or are the two showers the only fixtures affected? Back to you. Tom

If it is only in the showers I would think the shower head is plugged. It could be calcium deposits of a general build up of debris. However, you will also find that the faucet aerators also plug up too. Although the pressure is appropriate for the house, pipe size can reduce flow but not to the degree you are apparently experiencing. Take the shower head off and open the faucet. Flow still low or improved?

Was the existing faucet working good before he added this valve and smaller pipe?

Lord knows we get plenty of pump questions. I wish I had more experience but living in a metro area the only experience I Have is working on shallow well sprinklers and aeration tank systems. I'll be looking for your posts. Regards. Tom.

Actually I've had Speedbump for a handle for many years, somebody beat me to it on this Forum though, so I added the one in front.

I hang out on several Plumbing Forums including my own and it helps keep me from getting bored at work as slow as it has been. It also helps me sell stuff on my Website so that's a plus. I saw your handle when I first got here and thought that was quite a coincidence. It's the first time I've seen that one used.

I hope to have a good time here and be able to help some people out from time to time. You will learn real quick that I'm no Plumber by any stretch.

Plumbers we have. But you specialize inside the trade and we can use a pump guy on board. Our guys here are from all different code areas and a lot of experts here came over from the old AskMe.com as did I.
