Is it normal for these puck lights to melt down and get really hot... melts a hole in the back where they plug into the mount... then where do I get replacement pucks so I can still have light?

Sounds like full.voltage Halogen. Ionly use 12 volt now and avoid the same problem. Lots of places carry Puck lights,HD, Lowe's,
