If you are charged with 2nd degree murder in Los Angale CA and have a public defender can you higher an expert witness to testify on your behalf. The PD says no because it looks like you are paying for there testimony.

Couple things... Yes, you can hire experts, but if your attorney say no, I'd LISTEN to him. If you feel he's not representing you properly, you can FIRE him.

It would seem to me that a judge would think that if you can afford expert witnesses, that you could afford private counsel.
