My husband is stealing my Adderall!
Ok, so I was prescribed Adderall about 6 months ago. Sometime between then and now, my husband started taking them as well. I don't take the full dose so I don't mind that he takes the extra's. The problem is, as anyone on Adderall knows, the effects wear off and you end up needing a little bit more. That's what's going on with him right now. So he's been taking more than I have extra and putting me at risk of going without in between refills.
A little background... He has no medical/mental issues and I do. I absolutely need this medication or I am completely dysfunctional. I have been left without Adderall for several days once due to his over using it. I became depressed, and did absolutely no cleaning, cooking, or spending time with my daughter as a stay-at-home mom. He has a high profile, high stress job.
However, since he's been taking Adderall, he has literally became a machine! He's taking on home improvement projects, spending more time at the gym (we both make health and fitness a priority), he's received several positive performance reviews at work, he's less stressed, never tired anymore, and just generally happier, more focused, stress-free and joy to be around.
So my question is this... being that I cannot afford for him to be taking my Adderall, we have decided that he should get his own prescription. Being that he surely does NOT have ADD, how can we go about getting him his own? Is it better to doctor shop and fake symptoms of ADD, or to just be honest that he's been taking it for several months already and it has seriously improved every aspect of his life? In turn, his happiness and ability to get things done, be stress-free at home AND at work, etc. has made our marriage and ability to work together through the daily stresses of life (work, children, home, finances, school, etc.) totally stress-free and even enjoyable!
I appreciate your responses. Thanks!
