Should I pay this scammer for a minor car crash ?
OK so today I was driving on the highway and there was traffic so somehow I zone out and didn't the car in front of me so I lightly hit him I was going no more than 20kms or even less 15 ? When I went to look there was no scratch or dented at all it was like nothing happened to his car or mine. He says he works at a body shop so he said he was going to estimated the price for me and tell me in the evening so I was expecting no more than 300 since there isn't really anything but he dares to claim me 1.5k for the damage so I asked him politely to come to my auto shop and check it out but he refuses too and he threatens me to let the insurance company solve it but the only problem that is the insurance is not under my name only my moms

Forget the scammer, obviously what it is; this goes on all the time and was probably a planned rear ender.

Tell your mom and get it solved through her insurance; if you were driving, then you are covered as a secondary driver yes? In any event, do not have anymore to do with this person.

I'm not covered since my mom is divorced from my dad

So this guy knew what he was talking about when he threatened you to let the insurance solve it. So what exactly is going on here; more to this story? $1500 is lot to pay for 'no apparent damage' to either car.

I don't think we are that gullible.

I was using my moms car to pick up my cousin I just lightly hit him from the back and I have a picture too no dent no scratch basically nothing and now he haven't reply me for hours when I asked him to take pictures of the auto part damage and sent to my email because my friend that works at a auto shop was going to check it out for me so right now is he just basically loafting time and Im scared he actually reported it which I doubt it

Stay calm and don't overthink this.

    Does your mom have insurance?

Yes, insurance is under his mom's name, but he isn't on it (from original post)

But if she gave him permission to use the car, he should be covered.

I don't know where the poster is, but in Ontario unless you are mentioned on the policyholders insurance as an 'occasional driver' you are not covered. My son is not on my policy, so when he is home he is not allowed to drive my car.
