I have a leak in my ceiling but cannot trace where it is coming from
There are water stains coming through my living room ceiling and now a pool of water has accumulated in one spot beneath the ceiling but I cannot detect where it is coming from. I have plumbing cover with British Gas who came in to day and stated it was not a leaking pipe. Can anyone help me?

Then they must have traced it back to the source by opening up the ceiling, Right? Because if they didn't open up then ceiling up they're just blowing smoke up your skirt. That's what has to be done, The ceiling has to be opened and the leak tracked back to its source. Only then can you start a repair, Good luck and tell me what you find, Tom

Thanks for replying Tom. They only went into the bathroom and looked at the shower and decided that that was where the water was coming from they did not open up the ceiling just looked at it. This will be my next step.

    Thanks for the advice.

You can't mount a repair until you locate the source of the leak. And that means opening up the ceiling and tracking it back. It could very well be the shower but nobody knows for sure and I'm sure you don't want to tear out your shower without being damm sure that was the culprit. British Gas did a sloppy job of locating your leak. Oh that's eight! They didn't! Regards, Tom
