Will only start with a little gas poured in carb, changed fuel filter, drained fuel, cleaned carb still will only start with fuel added to carb, could the fuel pump be going bad? Or something else maybe

Hi,
Could be a failed fuel pump; check by opening up the side of the system going to the carb and spin the engine over. You should get a pulsing of fuel as the engine spins.
More likely is the fuel shutoff solenoid not working because of no power, ground or gummed up.
