My father, his father, and his father have all had lazy eyes. I also have a lazy eye. I am 14 and want to know if because I have a bad eye (my left) it will affect getting a driving license when I am older. I read up on it and I'd also like to know what causes it in me. It's obviously genetic but is there a specific cause? My other eye is great, I can see close and far objects clearly and perfectly.

Has an ophthalmologist seen your eye and talked with you about how to strengthen it?

Yes but I don't want it removed and will not be I'd just like to know if it will affect attaining my license, if my kids might have it and what might have caused it other then inheritance

I mean have the eye fixed I can fix it but I've decided not too the last time I saw an eye doctor was when I was maybe 5 years old

Why wouldn't you get it fixed or at least do the strengthening exercises?

In order to get a driver's license, you have to take an eye test. Is it possible you won't pass because of this eye? Do you wear glasses or contacts?

Depending on where you are at, yes they require a specific vision in each eye, so it will have to meet the min requirements

No I don't wear either.

There is surgery and even exercises and glasses to fix it. Doctors won't remove the eye.

That's what I want to know. If it will affect it greatly. My eye is irreversible, so that's okay. Even if the damage was reversible, I wouldn't change it.
