From Jet black dyed hair to medium ash blonde
    HI,
My natural hair color was dark brown.
I then dyed it jet black every month for about a year.

After a year, I decided that I wanted medium ash blonde.
I went to a PROFESSIONAL SALON with the best reputation in the area.
He bleached my hair for about an hr. and then dyed it ash brown but it came out
As orange. He charged me for this $300
He then told me that it takes a couple of steps since I had jet black dyed hair and that I would need to come back one more time for another bleach session.

I came back a week later second time and he bleached for another hour. MY HAIR WAS NOT ANYTHING LIKE IT USED TO BE. He then dyed my hair ash brown again but it
Still came out as orange. He charged me for this another $150.

I got so mad at him since this is not the shade I wanted and he damaged my hair and charged me so much money for absolutely nothing but damage.
He then told me to come one more time for a "free" dye and that will get to my shade. I came back a week later and he dyed my hair once again but it was sill orange. I had a fight with him and left the salon.

I then went with my orange hair to a different professional who told me that my hair is too weak for any additional bleaching. She also said that we must get rid of the orange/yellow/gold tone. She dyed my hair medium ash blonde and it came out nice. The problem was when I washed my hair a second time and it went back to being orange.
She then decided to dye my hair a dark ash blonde and it came out too dark and I didn't like it. After washing it a second time, it came out a bit lighter but has a gold tone.
I never believed that this is possible that we're in the year 2012 and no one person knows how to make jet black hair to an ASH BROWN. What am I supposed to do as of now? I am in absolute devastation since I spent so much money and my hair is damaged and is still a gold-brown shade and not anywhere near what I originally wanted-light ash blonde. Thanks

Shampoo and condition your hair avoiding color shield shampoo and conditioners. The orange will fade away In a few weeks.

I half read this... yes it is crazy in 2012 to not have the ability to take black to non orange cool blonde. Problem is... it takes too much time in one session and you probably don't want to pay for the cost of a 7hr dye job. It can be done, but the hair had to harden and neutralize its ph in between aggressive bleaching. Hairdressers have the best hair because they bleach it 3 days in a row if need be. They let the color calm down and then continue the process. Doing it all in one sitting is like water logging your hair and it will turn to mush.
